Some know me as Jose. Others as Mr. V. Educator, writer, activist, and father. Here I'll be posting thoughts in all those voices.

Hello Mr. Vilson,
My name is Ellie Roscher. Apologies for writing this in the comment section, but your contact tab is not submitting. I am a teacher and writer currently living in Hamilton Heights, NY. I am editing a book of stories, essays and poems by teachers for teachers called Keeping the Faith in Education. Avenida Books is publishing it, and we hope to have it out by the end of the summer. We have 2 poems and 17 stories/essays in place.
I love what you have to say on your blog. You speak truth and believe in young people and teachers in a way that is truly invigorating. I would love to have your voice as part of the conversation in the book.
Here are some ideas:
1) I love the spoken word piece you did at the Save our Schools rally. Do you have other poetry or spoken word that could be a good fit for this project?
2) Some of your blog posts could work as is if you are interested in re-publishing them in the book. I am drawn to “Born To Do This Shit,” “Letter to a Former Student,” “An Open Letter From the Trenches,” and I am open to hearing what some of your favorites are.
3)We are also looking for someone to come on board and write the introduction to the book. With your passion, experience and advocacy for the profession, having your voice set the tone for the conversation would be exciting.
Please be in touch via my email if you are interested in pursing any of the above options. Thank you so much for your consideration. Thank you, also, for what you do in the classroom and with your voice in the world.
Peace,
Ellie
