That’s IT!

The last day to enter your comment is Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 at 11:59pm. A winner will be randomly selected from all the commenters. Multiple entries are not allowed. Once you win, I’ll contact you directly with further details. Please make sure you respond quickly (within 48 hours of my choosing the winner), or you’ll lose the drawing.

The book I’m giving away in this entry is Successful Classroom Management by Richard H. Eyster and Christine Martin. I just got the book and I like it already. I especially favor the way it breaks up its chapters in situations like “Dealing with the Kid That Drives Us Crazy” and “Thirty-Five Steps For Dealing with a Difficult Class.” It’s got real talk. Also included is actual advice from students. A well-rounded book in my opinion.

From the book:

The first book to address head-on the most in-demand and troubling issue for teachers: how to control their classroom. Each year, tens of thousands of new teachers head out for their first teaching job and within five years, nearly half of them quit. Even though they went to school to learn how to be educators, they have virtually no preparation on how to effectively run a classroom and handle their students. Filled with expert advice, stories, and tips from teachers, and spot-on techniques, Successful Classroom Management: Real-World, Time-Tested Techniques for the Most Important Skill Set Every Teacher Needs is the new essential handbook to not only how to survive int e classroom, but also how to live the dream of becoming a great educator.

[This …] s the first book to give teachers the skills for managing the classroom in a way that’s effective, engaging, and understanding of the struggles new teachers face. Eyster and Martin present the lessons that have made them the most sough-after seminar trainers on the topic, addressing everything from how to handle classroom problems to how to inspire students and create an engaging classroom atmosphere.

Again, this sounds awesome, and if you’re interested, leave a comment. Good luck to all the contestants!

And thanks to Sourcebooks for their generous contribution here. I appreciate it.

Jose, who’s all about this book …
