Jose Vilson at NJEA

The New Jersey Education Association Conference was so lit a few months ago that NJTV put up clips from my speech on one of its shows.

I do wish they had shown the whole speech, but I know they had to show off Ms. Goldstein’s works as well, so I’m not mad. Check out the video below and let me know what you think. Special shout-out to Luz, Okaikor Price, and Melissa Katz, who made cameos in the video. So lit.

  1. “…Love and empathy for our students…”
This sounds like the only teacher advice my teacher father gave me before I began my teaching career:
“Focus on the students, not the adults.”

  2. What a wonderful video! So much inspiration: “We as teachers are political agents”. . . .”It’s always conversations”. . . .”We’ll be better off if we get to know our students’ cultures”. . . .”We’re going to do this because we really love our students.” Thanks for sharing.
